Fifteen years ago, yesterday, the newly elected President of
the United States was sworn into office after PROMISING     
during the campaign to not only balance the budget but to   
pay off the National Debt as well.                          
                                                            
WELL, (as he liked to say,) it didn't work out that way.    
                                                            
Practically the first thing he did was lower taxes while    
increasing government spending and after twelve years of him
and his henchman, our National Debt ballooned EIGHT TIMES   
to four trillion dollars from "only" $500 billion.  So much 
for promises, (except, of course, those to the rich.)
