Forget about Bork's handbook to the New Fascism.            
Try instead The Courage to Stand Alone: Letters From Prison.
by Wei Jingsheng, now 20+ years in the Chinese Gulag.  Great
reviews, just published, I haven't read it yet, but here    
appears to be a person who UNDERSTANDS liberty, having never
experienced it.                                             
                                                            
He describes the law in China as "merely a legal weapon that
anyone in power can wield against his enemies."  Sure sounds
like the modus operandi of the FBI, ATF, Justice Dept. etc. 
                                                            
I don't know what Bork says about the love affair that the  
Washington/Wall Street Axis has with Beijing, but if it is  
similar to the fawning of mainstream Republicans and their  
Clinton Democrat allies, our Constitution is indeed in      
peril.                                                      
                                                            
Imagine!  Putting profit ahead of the ideal of human rights.
Especially since our Nation is based on the ideas that are  
contained in the Declaration of Independence.  And tradition
is what Bork and his buds are supposedly all about.         
                                                            
Thanks for putting up this excellent quote on this board.   
Sam Adams sure rings true today.  Bork is a big clank.

The entire book, from what I've heard, is a blueprint for   
fascism, especially in criminal law, but also with its      
proposed gutting of the Constitution by allowing a simple   
majority of Congress to over-ride any Federal Court decision
that the Congress doesn't like.                             
                                                            
And we all know what scrupulously honest politicians and    
brilliant Constitutional scholars fill the halls of Congress
(That is, if they can squeeze into halls already brimming   
with special interest lobbyists toting briefcases full of   
dollar$.)

Honest critics of Congress frequently point out that the    
politicians there regularly abdicate their responsibility to
pass clear, coherent laws.  Because of various political    
considerations, alliances and deals, special interest       
lobbyists and pressure from the public, many of which are   
conflicting, Congresspersons rarely write a law that can be 
implemented without a judge's interpretation.               
                                                            
These politicians need to please so many interests they     
DELIBERATELY leave these laws OPEN for interpretation, thus 
covering their asses in case someone complains about a      
broken promise: "Well, I wanted it your way but the busybody
judges took over."  The less sophisticated then see judges  
as the problem instead of Congress.

It seemed to me the style of writing was different somewhere
and I thought there were two Frans, Sr and Jr, doing it.  I 
guess I was wong.
