  Isn't this a subject on the correct fate of Taiwan? Taiwan
hasn't been noted for being as "democratic" as this country.
They had martial law up until a few years ago.              
  Also, after Liberation the Nationalists looted the Bank of
China of its gold and Beijing of many art treasures. Not    
very democratic of them.                                    
  Also, they pocketed the foriegn aid from the US which was 
destined for China. Which led to the economic miracle.
